Moses Hightower reworked, remixed and pressed on vinyl!

We are Moses Hightower from Reykjavík, Iceland, and we've been making music together since 2007. Pretty smooth, cool music, we like to think.

We released our second full-length album in Iceland last summer, named Önnur Mósebók (Second Book of Moses). Like our first album, Búum til börn (Let's make babies) from 2010, it contains 10 tracks, plenty of which have been played on Icelandic radio. Critics liked it a lot, it was named Album of the Year by Fréttablaðið (Iceland's most-read newspaper) and we received the Icelandic Music Awards as Songwriters of the Year and Lyricists of the Year. Ok, enough bragging - let´s move on to why we are telling you this.

Vinyl fetish, anyone?

You see, Iceland is stuffed with talented musicians, and we are honored that a few of them have already made remixes of tracks off of Önnur Mósebók. Since we have a bit of a vinyl fetish, we want to release a compilation of these remixes, and some more that are in the making, on vinyl in cooperation with our label Record Records. There will be an accompanying CD with the mixes on it (handy for digitizing) and that CD can be purchased separately, but only in this crowdfunding campaign.

Confirmed artists so far for this potential piece of rotating sexiness:

Budget:

If this pre-sale goes as planned, it covers our part of the expenses of putting out this release:

  • Each remix artist receives a fee of €150
  • Mastering: €500
  • Cover design: €500

The production itself, royalties and such will be covered by Record Records.

Bottom line:

If we don't pre-sell enough copies to cover our costs, you won't be charged anything, no records will be pressed and the remixes will be on their own in this harsh world. We really love making nice records, though, so we hope you both buy a piece here, as well as help spread the word on social media and otherwise.
